Art is beauty, it is life, it is love. It is the ability to have eyes to see, to internalize nature to our mind and heart.

Why do I paint? Art Statement

As a contemporary abstract artist, I have become very much interested in Intuitive Art as a process to create art using inner awareness. This heart-centered activity does not rely on the analytical and judgmental mind. Intuitive painting connects to an inner creative energy, a fierce devotion to the source within, to perceptions, feelings and emotions. It is a commitment to my deep soul, to become more awake and alive, more real, more authentic. Ideas, philosophies and people that have inspired me have been Spiritualism from the French philosopher Allan Kardec, the Theosophy of Rudolf Steiner, Buddhism, and art of Hilma Af Klint, a pioneer of the Abstract Movement.

I often begin a painting by using my bare hands while blindfolded. This frees the origin of the painting from any preconceptions. Beginning with this blind process opens the doors to possibilities that I would not have foreseen. My blind gestures draw on my experience, intuition and sensitivity from my core. Then the work develops as the informed eye and hand play with all what they are confronted with.

I paint for self-awareness and self-expression moving out of my comfort zone, testing my limits, and confronting my fears. It requires an intense faithfulness, certain stillness, inner peace, and vulnerability. I meditate as my hands dance with colorful oils on the canvas, expressing my internal landscape.

It is a wonderful feeling to engage my art with the mystery of my life's journey. Art impels me to stay true to all that I am. I am grateful for the possibility to connect my visions with others, as together we navigate the unknown places, the hidden feelings which I express in my work. A painting can lead us to live in the present moment, and perhaps alter our lives for the better.
