Biography
I was born in Brazil, and I have been painting since I was 12 years old, when an art teacher introduced me to oil painting. A few years later, I received a BA in interior design from Minas Gerais State University, and then a BA in fine arts from Fundacao Escola Guignard. I participated in several group exhibitions, one of which took place at the Casa do Museu in Belo Horizonte.
My many years running my own interior design company in East Hampton, NY, deepened my experience in color theory, composition, visual perception, and most importantly, problem solving.
In 2012 while living in East Hampton, I started to paint again in my spare time. I continued my studies in New York: live model drawings with Linda Capello and still life oil paintings at the Southampton Cultural Center. At that time, my studies and research focused on the Renaissance masters' representations of textiles; the forms, colors and pigments used by them. I also attended workshops at the Parrish Art Museum, and at the Art Student League of NY, with Ronnie Landfield mentoring. I am now working with Bernd Haussmann as my mentor in Massachusetts. I have been taking intensive workshops with Tim Hawkesworth and Lala Zeitlyn in Philadelphia, PA, and at the Massachusetts College of Art in Boston and Bennington College of Art, VT.
I live and have my studio in Wakefield, Massachusetts - US and in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais - Brazil.
